Dad: Excuse me, I have a question.

Girl: Sure!

D: What do you do for fun around here?

G: Oh! There’s not really a lot of places here. The only worthwhile places are the strip clubs.

D: You go to strip clubs? Wow, I didn’t know girls like to go to places like that.

G: Oh yeah! It’s a lot of fun! Me and my friends go to [I forgot which one she named], but if we want some flavor, we go to Cheaters.

D: Flavor?

G: Um, you know… flavor! The other club is mostly white girls, but we love to go to the other one for the flavor girls.

Ok. So, two points about this conversation were a surprise:
1. There are girls who enjoy strip clubs.
2. The term flavors I have never heard before..

Life is interesting like that.

What is freewriting? Freewriting is writing whatever comes to mind, usually writing for a predetermined amount of time without regard to spelling, grammar, structure, etc. and no editing is done. We have chosen five minutes for right now, we will add or subtract from that in the weeks to come as we see fit.

So last weekend, I had a couple drinks with a girl at this club. I told her how I’m working at my parents’ storage business. And then she goes on to say something about how she heard about one time when one storage place was doing an auction (that’s where a tenant has failed to make payments, they are locked out of their unit, and then their belongings in the unit is sold at an auction to recover their missing payments). Apparently, when they opened it, there was a bin with a freaking human leg in it! What the hell? She didn’t have any details on the person that owned it, but the fact that someone would put human body parts in a storage facility never occurred to me (but then I just remembered Silence of the Lambs… or was it the sequel?) So now I’m a little bit paranoid at what people are putting in the units here. We don’t have access to their stuff, they get their own locks we have no keys to, so we can’t just go in without cutting off the locks (which we don’t do unless we do an auction). We have under air units too, and we make sure that no one is living in one. We do a walk around inspection before we close, and check that there are no unlocked units. If there are, we check inside to see if it is empty (usually those are people who move out without notifying us). And I am up and over 5 minutes! Isn’t a storage facility business fascinating?

Freewrite Friday is actually a great idea that I got from Shelli. Thanks!

I almost died the other night… I was driving out in the rain around downtown Cocoa and then I see a pair of headlights coming at me! This idiot was in my lane on a one way street! Luckily, both of us weren’t driving that fast and I managed to get out of the way… but then a few minutes later, I was in a neighborhood and I see a bright flash. And this lightning bolt hits a power line, right in front of me! There were sparks and fire everywhere! I totally felt it and thought that I was gonna get shocked for sure. The neighborhood power went out at that moment, so it was a really tense drive for a while as I was driving in near darkness in the rain.

Rain doesn’t bother me that much. It’s when I have to drive in it that I hate.

LOL. Late Night Shots always is a blast to waste time on (and also a great site to learn the hottest spots of DC). The forums are probably the most hilarious to read.
Finger in the Ass posted by Pooper

I saw on an old thread that guys are interested in girls who like a finger in the rear during sex. I like it but I always thought guys would think I was weird or gross. How do I get a guy to try it (and do it right)?

Also, if a guy does it, should I assume he wants me to return the favor? It’s a little harder to make it work on a guy because of the lubrication issue- you need a little preparation.

The responses are just as great (if not, helpful)! Some other great threads: what are acceptable handouts from parents, Share a Secret, and Things you would do if no one found out.

I took some time to drive and shop around the local mall and shops in Merritt Island, Florida. The mall isn’t anything all that. I prefer the one in Annapolis, hell even Arundel Mills is better than the one here. That isn’t to say that it was horrible. It’s nice. It has some stores that I actually do like going to. It’s just not that big, and doesn’t have ALL the stores I like.

I walked around, sat and did some people watching. Florida people don’t seem that different than Annapolis people. Lots of shorts and flip flops. Not that many young people though. I guess people my age are located closer to Miami.

I had bought some dvds to watch and as I was walking towards the exit, I decided to check what movies were playing. I had already watched Michael Clayton and We Own the Night there this past week with my parents, so I thought I’d see what else was showing… and if it was going to start within a few minutes I’d go see it. It’s nice to just do whatever the hell I want to without having to worry about anything.

30 Days of Night was what I ended up seeing. I bought a ticket and proceeded to the theater in no rush. I skipped snacks, since I wasn’t hungry at all (although this particular movie place happens to sell funnel cakes). The place was empty (not unexpected on a Thursday early afternoon) save for a few couples spread out here and there. That’s what I usually hate about going to the movies by myself, and that’s why I hardly ever do it. Going to the movies, to me, is a social thing. Something to share with someone(s). I love to watch a movie and then talk about it and discuss reactions with whomever I saw it with. I really wanted to see this movie though (since it’s based on a graphic novel, aka comic book), and I didn’t really have anything else to do. So I took a seat and did my best to ignore the young couple sitting a couple rows in front of me as they leaned their heads in together.

My impressions of 30 Days of Night? Be careful, spoilers ahead. I thought it was actually pretty decent for a vampire movie. The last vampire movie I’ve seen was, I think, Underworld, and really to me vampire films should be more scary than action-y. I hadn’t read the graphic novel yet, so I can’t make comparisons. And for a comic book movie, I thought it was really well done. Although I think the concept of trying to stay alive for 30 days of constant night time could have been better handled. I mean the people trying to survive… how the hell did they do that? The vampires had THIRTY goddamn days to just tear up every building in that podunk town. And then they waited until the last day to burn the place? LAME.

At times though, I tried to make comparisons of vampires to zombies. I love zombie movies. They’re always awesome to watch: the gore, the violence, the human stories. Vampries are, of course, different than zombies. That isn’t to say that there aren’t any similarities. Vampires can turn people into vampires. And they feast on blood (rather than flesh). But then I thought, vampires can definitely be more vicious than zombies. They have intelligence (most zombies in movies run just on instinct). They actually left people alive to use as bait to draw out those in hiding. They also have concepts of self preservation and hunting. Therefore, on those points, I think there should definitely be more vampire movies made along these concepts. Most vampire movies are about the vampires, but I liked 30 Days of Night for the fact that it’s about the humans trying to survive. I think the only hitch is that vampires can come out only during the night. Zombies are 24 hours, 7 days-a-week creatures. This film worked for building tension since the vampires were free to hunt the prey constantly during the long absence of daylight.

And an update on the job front: I’ve gotten responses now from the two companies I interviewed with before I left. Both want to bring me back in to meet with more people, but one actually told me that they intend to make me a job offer. I actually had a good impression of the people I met with there and would definitely love working with them. I guess it depends on the compensation and specific job responsibilities. But all in all, it’s looking good. I told both employers that I’m unavailable for the time being and they are willing to wait for me. So… yeah, I’m excited.

I’m still in Merritt Island, Florida. I just thought I’d post something real quick to let everyone know what I’m up to.

Pretty much nothing. Just relaxing, being lazy, and just generally turning my brain off for as long as I can.

I’m taking phone calls from potential employers that found my resume. Unfortunately, I don’t have a computer at the house (right now I’m at a friends’) to do research and do proper preparation for my interviews, but oh well.

Our little pomeranian died the other day. My mom is pretty upset about it. She seemed fine, but she just stopped breathing and died. I’m still a little sad about it… She was still warm when I saw the little furball wrapped up in a towel.

Saw some dolphins in our backyard. I tried my best to take a picture of one grabbing a fish out of the water.

Saw a space shuttle launch at the JFK Space Center. It was pretty bitchin. And loud. And awesome. I’m glad I saw it. We know someone who works for NASA, so we got the hook up and were able to get into the hot spot to watch the launch.

The best part of Florida right now has to be just laying in the hammock at the pier at the back of the house. It’s still hot, but the shade and the constant breeze just make it perfect to lay about for hours on end.

I decided to stay another week here. My parents just left this morning, so I got the whole place to myself.

I’m flying out to Chicago from here next week. Then after another week there with family, I’m looking to hang out with my friend in Vegas for a weekend… I am in no rush to come back to MD! lol

Yep. I got some pics up. So yep. That’s what I’ve been doing. I’m probably gonna go out and try out some of the bars by the beach later tonight…
