I have a post in the making for Fallout 3. I’ll probably put it up once I finish the main story. Right now I just made it Rivet City. The game is kind of addicting… it’s similar to WoW in that you do quests, level up, and look for equipment and cool items and such. Just no multiplayer aspect to it. I also like the amount of blood and gore; it’s so sweet and satisfying to blow off people’s heads with my combat shotgun in slow motion. Also, it’s wrong, but hilariously funny and kind of fun being a slaver… it’s like, “Gotta Catch ‘Em All!” but with humans! hahaha… so wrong.

I can happily say that I quit World of Warcraft a couple weeks ago. Suspending my account was quick, easy, and painless (unlike other services I wanted to opt out of). I haven’t given a second’s thought to going back; even with the new expansion pack that was just released.

My tenure as an Undead Warlock for the Horde in the world of Azeroth was enjoyable, but I knew it was time to bid it adieu. My adventures and quests were fun, don’t get me wrong. I loved each time I reached a new level, searching through the chests and corpses for treasures, completing dungeons with online strangers, and the feeling of accomplishment when I finish a quest. What I didn’t love was the fact that at times it seemed like an annoying chore to complete certain tasks, the frustration of spawning at the grave yard every time I died, and the constant “need” to find rare/strong equipment/weapons. The final push for me to quit the game was the combination of the monthly fee and the amount of time I was putting into it.

I can understand some people’s reluctance to pay for a game monthly when they’ve already paid to purchase it. Some people don’t mind, others do. I don’t, when it’s something that I can afford. I had to tighten the belt in preparation for the move to Chicago, so I cut the cord. Saves me about $10 a month. That’s money that could be used for food/transport/tips when I’m in the Windy City. Or for a single drink when I go out again in NYC. I’m just glad I wasn’t as committed as this guy. But then again… if I was makin’ mad money…

The game also seemed to suck the life out of me. Actually, that’s a bit of an exaggeration. I did spend large time periods on it though that could have been put to better use (i.e. putting in job applications, working on my portfolio, reading some books, spending time with real people.) It didn’t really help when I finish a five hour romp in the game I felt tired and depleted. A game is supposed to be fun as well as relaxing and let you unwind. I had some fun, but I did not like the fact that I felt drained after focusing almost two days of play on reaching the next level. I knew it would happen; I would just get so engrossed and lost in the game that I would lose focus of what what I was actually doing. I think I caught it just in time before I lost my mind.

I quit cold turkey. I actually have no regrets having played. I might come back again. I think I would have had more fun if more people I knew joined. At first it was only my cousin (and her now-ex) that I knew (and they actually got me to play it in the first place), but I think I would enjoy it more if I had a group of my close friends join. It has the potential to be an awesome socializing game, and it is for others, but the lack of participation from my IRL buddies is causing us to miss out. It’d be so great to have a band of us take on the Alliance, battling beasts and monsters, and overall enjoy each other’s company as we play a game together.

I may return someday, WoW. Someday.

The four of us banded together for a common purpose: to survive.

The horrors we faced were insurmountable: hordes of the undead that rush from every direction, bloated monsters that belched putrid vomit, savages that crawl and leap and tear at your flesh, freaks that ensare you with their tongues to drag you to your doom, mutant women whose eerie crying remind the haunted of her unforgiving leathal strikes, and devilish brutes that can crush you with their monstrous strength. We were alone against this army of hundreds… thousands! Trapped in a city infested, we quickly learned to trust each other without hesitation. Our lives depended on it.

Armed to the teeth with firearms to punish the wicked savages, we blasted our way through to each safe room to catch our breath. We couldn’t stay for long; the extraction helicopter at the hospital couldn’t wait forever. We made it through abandoned apartments, the demolished subway, the cramped sewers… all the way to Mercy Hospital. There were plenty of close calls. We almost thought we would be overrun several times, but we kept our heads and kept putting bullets in every undead body.

We had finally made it to the roof. The trek up each floor was daunting, but we managed. The rescue was almost close. However, before they could arrive, we had to make a final stand against waves of the infected. More than ever before, they were climbing up the walls and structures to get at us. Our teamwork now had to be in total sync. Alone we could never endure this nightmare, but together we had the slimmest of chances.

Each minute passed by… each minute closer to salvation. We threw everything we had at them. We blew them up. We lit them on fire. We riddled them with bullet holes. Every one that fell, five more were coming from the horizon. At then at long last… one of us was overwhelmed. He couldn’t shove enough of them away to reload his gun. They swarmed all around him. The rest of us were helpless, busy fighting off our own aggressors, as he was ripped to pieces. We had to fight on. We needed to live. There was no time to mourn.

The battle became more intense as it went. Soon the giant monster came, tearing apart the roof. Our bullets seemed to bounce off its bulging skin. Our molotovs lit him on fire, but the burning flames didn’t slow him down. We had to scatter to avoid his crushing fists. It’s never a good idea to separate. And we paid for it. The monster closed in on one of us and landed a devastating blow. He flew across the roof and hit a concrete wall. He tried to limp away, but it was soon too late. The monster lunged at him and continued its barrage of pounding our ally’s flesh. We unloaded everything we had to try and lure him away. Then after what seemed like an eternity, the brute finally fell.

And then we heard it on the radio. The helicopter had arrived! We were going to make it! At long last, deliverance. The hosts of attackers had dwindled. We made our way to the helipad unhindered.

I relished the sound of the blades whipping in the air. It sounded like my wings were flapping, lifting me to freedom. I walked onto the platform, and in what seemed like slow motion, turned around to look at my teammate. He was also my savior. He and I made it through hell and back. We fought bravely and without remorse. I could see it in his eyes and then…

I pointed my shotgun.

I pulled the trigger.

I heard the loud bang.

I saw him blasted back onto the ground.

I turned around and jumped into the chopper and flew off.

I never looked back.

There are a ton of tv shows I need to catch up on. And then the video games… well there wasn’t a lot out before other than GTA4. MGS4 actually is coming out and I’m dying to play that, but I really want to get into Crisis Core. I had this game sitting by my desk for the month now, still in its plastic wrap. I had been saving it, not playing it until I got a job. It actually was quite an incentive to get me motivated. And now that I have a job, why not?

I think I’ll get back to my roots. I’m gonna go on a Final Fantasy VII binge. All things FF7 for the next few weeks. This includes: Crisis Core, watching Last Order, playing FF7 over again, and finally finishing up with Advent Children. Not sure if I want to get into Dirge of Cerberus though; maybe, if I’m up for it.

Okay. Time to fire up the PSP.

Anyway. I hadn’t thought of any names really… but I heard one somewhere that I thought would be a cool name for my son (or one of them). How’s this one? Lincoln. I haven’t really done any research on any names or meanings behind it.

I just thought it would be awesome to give my son a cool nickname from that: Link. I mean, sure, that’s the name of the timeless hero of Hyrule, but besides that, it just sounds like a really bad ass name.

I wouldn’t let him dress like this though…

Link. I think that’d be a cool name.

Blaaaahhhh. I’m just totally gonna write any random thing that comes to my head. I didn’t have any topic on hand that I really wanted to go into. Well I do have some ideas. I’m just being totally lazy about it. Some stuff I want to write about: Atonement, season 6 of The Shield, cute bunny rabbits, trip to Europe, the past weekend, and more on Fables. Blah blah blah blah… seriously, I’m trying to write for like at least 5 minutes without stopping and trying to not sounds like a total nut case. I wonder what it’s like to go sky diving. It looks awesome. I had met this guy who does jumps for the military and he talked about a time when he did a jump while nude and when he landed, poured a beer into a mug. Crazy, huh? I am totally at a lost now what to talk about. stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff stuff……… this is harder than it looks. And I’ll be pretty surprised if I do this without a lot of spelling and grammar errors. This is a really long 5 minutes… Ok, I’m cheating. I’m stopping for about 10 seconds between every 2-3 sentences to watch the Office. That show is freaking hilarious. Stupid writer’s strike. They do deserve royalties though for DVD sales and digital downloads. See how many shows have halted due to not having writers? Gah…. The current book I’m reading is The Children of Hurin. My friend got it for me for Christmas. It’s good so far. Kind of a different level of reading. Morgoth sounds really evil. To pretty much curse someone’s descendants through sheer will power; EVIL. Speaking of LotR, I’ve been getting back into Battle For Middle Earth II. Elves rock, especially the Noldor units. They are kick ass. I think I might want to try and play it later. Alright, I’m giving up. I can’t keep this up. I just finished up at the 4 minute mark and you probably read this whole post in less than that time. Random words put together: tomato bell wishes, trombone cow shoelaces, and galaxy ghost plunger. I know that this post is gonna be a total piece of crap when it’s finished, but whatever. I am being totally brain dead after the past week I had. I can’t wait for this weekend. I’m really excited!!!!!!! THE END. Tah-dah!

So I was convinced by my friends, Geoff and Eric, to drive them to Virginia for Magfest last night. I was reluctant at first, but I decided to give in after being promised that The Advantage would be performing. Turns out the concert wouldn’t be until tonight and tomorrow. So instead I spent 20 bucks on a mini-convention for video game geeks that was so-so.

I felt a little weird. I mean, a lot of these guys have some of the same interests as I do; namely video games and perhaps anime. But somehow I just didn’t feel like I could mesh with a lot of them. I dunno. I guess I’m still a horrible, judgmental person. A couple of people were actually well dressed (either some cool hoodie and jeans like that)… but then you see people with sweat pants. SWEAT PANTS. Come on, now. It’s fine to wear at home, but out in public? OK, here’s a little dirty secret, but I used to wear sweat pants when I went to public school for one year. GOD, what the hell was I thinking? Right, enough rambling about that. I shouldn’t be such a meanie about how the way other people present themselves. (But at least wear deodorant for god’s sake… nobody thinks that your B.O. is any type of attractive musk).

Also, I brought back the Library page. No reason for it particular. I just like to keep track of what I’ve been reading lately is all.

And a few more quick hits:
- Been playing the hell out of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Wii. Something about seeing characters like Darth Vader, R2-D2, and Boba Fett as Lego figures is just… endearing.
- I saw Walk Hard a while ago. Not terribly impressed. Perhaps a 4/10.
- I also had seen National Treasure: Book of Secrets. I hadn’t seen the first one, but I thought I’d give this one a chance. I thought it was good and entertaining! 8/10.
- I’m intrigued by previews of Cloverfield, namely that it’s presented as a film through peoples’ cameras… it’s really exciting, like it really immerses you into it and you’re experiencing everything they are yourself. And also you can’t find out anything about what it is that’s attacking the city. It’s a very closely guarded secret. But what else can you expect from producer J. J. Abrams? He wrote the book on “wtf is going on” with his show Lost. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a really good ‘monster movie’ ever… Godzilla 2000 is the last one I remember seeing, but that was really atrocious. Haven’t seen a clip yet? Check this out:

Yeah, that looks like it’ll be crazy.

- Had a return interview yesterday morning. Went well. Waiting for their decision like so many others… *sigh*
- The Annapolis mall has made some major expansions. I visited the wing with all the new stores. I’m very impressed with the look of the new part of the mall… very sophisticated and refined. New favorite store: Metropark. *hint* *hint* ;D
- Went to the Patriots vs. Ravens game last night at M&T Bank Stadium. I love going to football games, but I think I prefer Redskins games than Ravens games for some reason. I think personally, Redskins fans are way louder than Ravens fans, but I might just be biased. But despite that, it was a really close game… can’t believe Ravens just gave em the win like that.
- Completed Final fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions today. The final scene after the credits… I totally had forgotten about it, but it’s just such an awesome ending that’s just so not like any other Final Fantasy endings. It just makes the game so… dramatic.
- Started Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for the DS. I like the character designs and how it ties into XII (and just slightly to Tactics: TWotL). The battles are pretty straightforward and simple. Great for a DS game. My only qualm being that it can get chaotic in the battles and it’s tough to distinguish friend from foe with the stylus. Story seems so-so. I guess it’s not as dramatic as XII and Tactics, it’s more of a kids going on an adventure as sky pirates kind of deal.
- A friend just made the trek back from California driving on his own. I’m glad he’s back and looking forward to getting some BfMEII game time in. ^_^

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend. I know I did! Went to North Carolina on Thursday, spent all Friday driving back to Maryland, and the weekend was spent in Delaware. Had a crazy night on Saturday; I’m surprised I held up pretty well on my own the next day. ;P Highlight of that night: ummm… maybe I’ll save it for later.

Today, I was supposed to have an interview in the morning, but they called and had to reschedule it. *sigh* Yeah, it was frustrating, and it left me with a whole day of doing practically nothing. I got some serious bouts of boredom throughout the day. I spent most of it playing Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. I finally found a guide for it and restarted it since I totally messed up in the beginning and missed a special event (hint: don’t release the two female soldiers that join you in the beginning of chapter 2). The game is so awesome. And the cut scene with Balthier from FF XII is so fun to watch. And ::spoiler:: Argath returns (he totally didn’t die at the end of chapter 1). It’s probably my favorite game on the PSP (and there aren’t that many). Just kind of wished there was someone else around with the game to do the Melee and Rendezvous modes though…

So, another thing I did today was watch a lot of HGTV, one of my favorite networks for the past few weeks. I don’t know what it is; I just love watching the shows and getting ideas for how I want my house to look like someday. My favorite shows are House Hunters, Designed to Sell, Hidden Potential, and Color Splash. Color Splash has to be the best one though. David Bromstad, the host, is just so fun to watch; he has a lot of creative and awesome ideas, he’s very energetic, and he’s just totally cool. While he’s not too bad to look at, Danielle Hirsch is totally the cuter choice. House Hunters and Hidden Potential are great too since I really had no idea before what I wanted in a house, but now I have some thoughts on what to look for eventually. Designed to Sell is full of design ideas on how to present your house when trying to sell it; I plan on getting a place that I can get cheap and then flip eventually… yeah the market sucks right now, but that’s good for me as a buyer and then hopefully I’ll have lived in it long enough and built a ton of equity to make a nice profit when I move on.

And by now you’ve probably noticed a new layout change. I wanted to reflect the winter season, so hopefully this Winter Ice theme does it.

Geeez… bored bored bored bored… I think I’m gonna have a DVD marathon tomorrow… we’ll see.

OK, so I got that Krispy song by Kia Shine stuck in my head. It’s cool though, cuz I’ve associated that song with NYC pretty much. I’ve added more pics, so check ‘em out if you’d like.

So, updates. Nothing new, really. Still looking vigorously for a new job. It gets tough when you have interviews then don’t hear anything from the employer after that. But I gotta keep plugging away. If worse comes to worse, I’ll have to go back to being a bank teller… :

I’ve started playing Final Fantasy XII finally. That game is actually fun. And I love the new battle system. It is just way more smooth to execute. And in terms of my favorite FF games of the series I’d say it’s right up there with VII and X. Tactics is my favorite of them all though, and it just got released on the PSP. I just got that, too, and it is just as awesome as when I played it on the PS1. The music and story just make it one of the most memorable games I’ve ever enjoyed. So yeah, with no work, I’ve been spending a lot of time playing video games for a change.

I’m actually leaving tomorrow for Florida. I’m taking the PS3 and PSP along to keep myself occupied when I’m not busy seeing the sites and what not. Looking forward to the nice, warm beach down there. ^_^

Also, my cousin recently asked me to be part of a dance routine for the Philippine American Association of Delaware (PAAD). I am reluctant. I have no coordination for a choreographed dance. lol. Only perk being that a girl I had a crush on will be involved. hahaha. Now what kind of dance are we talking about? Well, there’s going to be tinikling, of course, but she says she going to take a large part of the moves from this:

Yeah, baby! Lookit them dancing Filipinos! They’ve got some sick moves. LOL. So I am undecided on that. I don’t know if I’ll have the time to dedicate to practice actually. I’m in the midst of deciding whether or not to pursue my trip across the country. After Florida, I am more than likely taking a plane from there to Chicago. From Chicago, either NYC or California. Gotta hear back from some people first. We shall see.
