Settling Back In
by Jay on November 13, 2007
Second day back in Maryland, and I’ve begun to feel back at home. Well, almost. I’m staying at the parents’ place while they are back in Florida. I haven’t really unpacked at all. I actually feel really exhausted right now for some reason. I haven’t really done anything all that physical or involved. Eh… I did have a 3 hour interview this morning… all the way out in Virgina. Ugh. The drive sucked. But I was really impressed with the company. I was involved with the college graduate interviews (since I snagged this through UMBC’s Career Fair), and I felt like I had an edge the whole time due to my graduating last year and having already a bit of work experience. I was interviewed by a couple of people, but the most interesting part was when I was treated to lunch and was eating with the other interviewees as well as some of the people who work there. And for some reason, I was one of the few people who kept on firing questions at them when no one else was; questions I actually already knew the answers to, but asked them anyway to keep the conversations going. I felt like the only one to possess a really big sense of confidence and had the advantage… never did I feel awkward or nervous or out of place. Damn… is that cockiness bad? I don’t know what it was; maybe this company is it for me. It’s just the distance from Annapolis that is discouraging. If I moved to DC, maybe it could work… hmmm… Well, I’ve got more companies I need to interview with, so hopefully I can build on this experience and ace some more.
